Company Profile
Camping and Canvas was established in
1980 by Martin Morison who repaired his first sail on the kitchen floor of a rented
Seaforth home.
Camping and Canvas has been located in
the same North Mackay street since September 1985 and purchased it's own complex in May
1996. The front of these premises consist of around 500m2 of showroom,
displaying a large range of camping and outdoor equipment including tents and camping
trailers on display. Under the same roof is 275m2 canvas workshop. This
comprises of storage area for marquee tent hire, sewing benches, cutting tables and open
floor space for the manufacture and repairs of all canvas and vinyl goods. Adjoining the
showroom / workshop is our 150m2 warehouse facility.
True Blue Camping and Canvas employs 5
fulltime staff and has done so consistently for over 10 years. True Blue Camping and
Canvas managing director Mr Kerry Purcell, is a fully qualified
CANVAS GOODS MAKER. After completing his apprenticeship in Toowoomba, Kerry
moved north to Mackay in 1985.
There are 3 different sides to True Blue,
while all different, each complements the other.
There is the retail camping shop....
True Blue Camping Warehouse sells a huge range of camping and outdoor products
There is the canvas workshop....
True Blue Custom Canvas manufactures repairs and modifies all canvas and vinyl goods.
There is our Marquee hire section....
True Blue Marquee Hire has dozens of different sized marquees, which we have built
ourselves, ready to hire for all sorts of functions like birthday parties, engagement
parties and even a white, silk lined wedding marquee.
True Blue Camping and Canvas is proud of
it's motto STRONG AND WATERPROOF. This phrase began in the mid eighties when new
apprentices were asked what they thought 'canvas goods' were, and what purpose canvas had?
This simple but effective motto has stuck and today is used to reinforce the basic
principle that all canvas goods must be STRONG AND WATERPROOF. |
